Celebrating Black History Month at the
        Rapides Parish Library!

The Rapides Parish Library celebrates Black History Month
with programs that commemorate the outstanding
achievements by Black Americans and their central role in
U.S. history. Many of our branches throughout the system
have events planned both in the library and in the
community during Black History Month. Below are just a
few of the programs your neighborhood library offers in the

month of February!

The Boyce Branch hosts their second Annual Black
History Month Poster Contest! Customers from pre-K to
Adult, have the opportunity to design a poster celebrating
Black History Month. All entries will be judged on creativity,
artistic merit, and best representation of the 2017 Black
History Month theme: “INSPIRED TO SUCCEED”. The
deadline to enter is: February 18, 2017 at 12:00pm. For

The King Branch offers, for the third year, the Annual
Authors’ Showcase. On February 25, 2017 beginning at
10:00am published and indie authors, poets and historians
will offer their books to the public. The growing popularity of
this event has required a larger venue! This year, the 3rd
Annual Authors’ Showcase will be held in the Alexandria
Mall located at 3437 Masonic Drive. The showcase
celebrates Black History month and more. The participating
authors offer us an amazing opportunity to travel into their
